Suicide Squad’s Amanda Waller Will Be Tough As Nails

It looks as though Viola Davis is already getting into character for ‘Suicide Squad’… as she claims that Amanda Waller would make Superman quake in his tights.

During an interview with Jimmy Kimmel Live, the 49-year-old Suicide Squad leader revealed that her character is a force to be reckoned with…

“She’s a badass!” she revealed. And when Kimmel asked whether Superman would be on her side, she couldn’t help bringing the Man of Steel down a peg or two. “Oh no, Superman would quake in his tights.”

Of course, Amanda Waller is a well-known figure to fans of the Suicide Squad.

Having set up the squad herself, Waller acts as a government liaison – keeping close tabs on those DC super villains as they send them off on dangerous missions. But don’t think for one minute that Waller is a mere pencil-pusher. Over the course of the comic books, she’s been a powerful antagonist to many DC superheroes… and despite not possessing any super powers, always manages to hold her own.

And when it comes to being a bit of a badass, it looks as though Viola Davis has picked up some battle wounds on set already.

Holding up her little finger to the camera, Davis pointed out a scar where apparently a “huge flap of skin was hanging off.” Unfortunately, it looks as though no amount of waterboarding could break Amanda Waller… as she refused to reveal how she was injured on set.

But I can’t help hoping we’ll see her face off against Ben Affleck’s Batman.

“She’s supposed to be one of the main characters,” she explained, “one of the main villains.”

Of course, calling herself a ‘villain’ in the context of a movie all about super villains doesn’t exactly tell us much. But considering that she’s responsible for terminating any of the Squad members who don’t stand in line, I get the feeling there’s going to be a bit of friction amongst the ranks.

Either way, it looks as though Viola Davis is relishing the part… and I can’t wait to see how she brings The Wall to the big screen.

‘Suicide Squad’ heads to cinemas on 5 August 2016.
