Gary Sinise Cancels Appearance At 'Gay Cure' Group Summit
Gary Sinise, the actor best known for ‘Forrest Gump’ and ‘Apollo 13’, has cancelled a public appearance at a summit held by an anti-gay Catholic group.
The Oscar-nominated star, a passionate war veteran supporter, was due to speak at the Legatus 2015 Annual Summit in Florida later this month, but has since pulled out after being made aware of the group’s ‘anti-gay’ attitudes.

Articles on the group’s website list homosexuality as “SSA” or “Same-sex attraction disorder” and it urges “sufferers” to seek a cure. It also advises its members to avoid voting for politicians who seek to redefine marriage in order to include same sex marriages.
“For me, faith has been a catalyst for my mission to honour the men and women who serve in our nation’s military,” Sinise said in a statement.
“When I accepted the invitation to speak at the Legatus conference on Veterans issues and share my story, I was unaware of the controversy surrounding some of the participants, and their views on personal matters.
“I don’t want my mission—which is designed to be unifying—to be disrupted by these, or any controversies, and therefore have decided to withdraw.”
Fox News’ chief political anchor Bret Baier is still scheduled to make an appearance.
